Hodes: Tanned, Rested, and Wrong

Bosse Welcomes Hodes Back to Work; Urges Action on Terrorist Surveillance

(Littleton) Hillsboro Republican Grant Bosse today welcomed Congressman Paul Hodes back to work, and urged the Democratic lawmaker to demand swift action to restore the nation’s terrorist surveillance capabilities.

“Paul Hodes and the Democratic Congress have ignored their basic responsibility for 17 days and counting,” Bosse said. “But our enemies have been hard at work exploiting the gap in our intelligence capabilities that Congress’s inaction created."

Speaker Nancy Pelosi adjourned the House of Representatives on February 15th without calling a vote to reauthorize the expiring Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA. The Senate approved the legislation with broad, bipartisan support, and the House was set to approve it until Pelosi gaveled the session to a close without holding a vote. Last week, Pelosi scheduled a three-day work week and refused to hold a vote on FISA.

“The proper response to such an irresponsible abuse of power would have been to demand an up or down vote,” Bosse added. “Paul Hodes response was silence. After 17 days of inaction, he’s tanned, rested, and wrong.”

“I challenge Mr. Hodes to finally stand up to Nancy Pelosi and demand a vote to fully restore our nation’s counter-terrorism capability. We’ve been vulnerable for 17 days too long,” Bosse concluded.

Bosse issued his challenge at the beginning of a two-day campaign swing through Coos County.
