Sad News

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) _ New Hampshire's House minority leader has died.

Republican Michael Whalley of Alton died Saturday at Concord Hospital. He was 54.

Relatives say Whalley, who had been fighting a cancerous brain tumor, died of complications from a recent fall.

He was serving his eight term in the House, and had served as deputy speaker under former Speaker Gene Chandler.

Whalley was a co-owner of a snowmobile and motorcycle shops in Hooksett, Tilton and Laconia. He is survived by his wife and two children.

I interviewed with Mike before going to work for the NH House. He was always a smart, kind, and classy guy. New Hampshire has lost a good man today. My prayers are for Purr and the rest of Mike's family.
